Practice Makes Perfect makes its debut on Dreamspinner Press!

Practice Makes Perfect is now available on Dreamspinner Press! This short, sci-fi novella is about the friendship between Dr. Rhys Aubrey and the leader of his team, Major Jim Tanner.

Together, the men live and work on board the exploration vessel Fearless. searching for any technological advantage or potential allies they can find against the threat of an unknown enemy known only as The Swarm.

Space exploration is dangerous, as is their primary mission. Will taking their friendship one step further endanger their working relationship–and thereby themselves and the planet as well?

  1. Yay! Now the only thing I’m waiting for is for the book to be available on Amazon. Then I’m off to outer space to meet up with Jim and Rhys! πŸ˜€

    • I’ve been looking for that too–last time, it was less than 24 hours. I freely admit, I’m worried about this one. Lots of people are meh about sic-fi and it probably isn’t sci-fi enough for the people who love it. *bites nails*

In better news, I’ve put in 2 K on Walk a Mile today. I’ve been struggling a bit–things around the house have been terribly distracting, but at least I am moving forward on that one!

      • Well, I’m not a fan of “extreme” sci-fi (those kinds confuse my brain so much), so your own version of sci-fi appeals to me! Sci-fi is not my favorite genre – fantasy and paranormal will reign – but really, I’m willing to read anything as long as the story is good. So yeah, I see you as an amazing author and I’ll follow you even if you decide to write about anthropomorphic cheese! πŸ˜€

Yay! 2,000 words is great – on good days I can barely manage to puke out 1,000 words… Not to sound nagging or anything, but do you have a projected finish date? πŸ™‚

        • Anthropomorphic cheese, eh? *makes notes*

That’s very sweet of you to say. I think the sci-fi venture might not be to everyone’s tastes, judging by sales so far…

I’m hoping to have a rough draft finished and ready for beta by the first of the year–if accepted, it would probably be a late spring, early summer release. I know, I know! I should write faster! Believe me, my idea of the ideal holiday would be a paid vacation at in a nice hotel where I could write all day long and enjoy the company of friends in the evenings! πŸ™‚

          • I need a bit of literal cheese and metaphoric cheese with all the drama going around both in and out of the web. LOL.

It’ll pick up, I’m sure! Mondays are naturally slow, methinks. Watch the sales skyrocket by Friday. πŸ˜‰

(No, that wouldn’t be me purchasing multiple copies to impose upon other people – where’d you get that idea?)

Nooo, that’s a pretty good timeline! I write slower than molasses in January even if I have free time, so I admire the way you try to find time for writing, even if real life is taking up a lot of your time. πŸ™‚

          • Hmm. You have a point about Mondays. I suspect, however, if I had changed the characters and made them vampires, the sales would have been better. Still, I can only write the story I *want* to write–I never have been able to write what I think is popular!

My word count for the today is about 3 K. I had a scene I really wanted to finish, and I’m almost there. I’m starting to lose focus though, so it;s about time to quit for the evening. Tomorrow, I’ll try to get an earlier start–after I hit the barn that is!

  2. Since Amazon doesn’t have the book yet, I have decided to just buy it from ARe. I can’t wait! I just have to finish reading this other book (just half of it left!) and then I’ll get started with these two guys. πŸ™‚
