The Boys of Summer is one of Jessewave’s Best of 2013!

Pop A CorkI was just cruising around Twitter when I discovered that The Boys of Summer made Jessewave’s list of Best M/M Romances of 2013 by guest reviewer Orion! Wow! You could knock me over with a feather–I never expected that! What a nice thing to stumble across! πŸ™‚

I’m gobsmacked, I am. I mean, when you think about all the books that reviewers read in the course of a year, it’s amazing that anyone would like one of your stories enough to put it on their “Best of” list. πŸ™‚

In more grumbly news, apparently when I got the latest WP upgrade, it disabled comments on my posts (unless I manually enable them, how stupid is that? Comments enabled should be the DEFAULT option). Some people missed out on commenting-to-enter-contests here, and I apologize for that. Now I am discovering that the last 10 or so posts from my website never made it to some of my cross-posting sites–but did make it to some, so I didn’t realize until just now.

ARGH.

Sometimes I really hate technology. Now I’m trying to sort through and make sure all my links are active…

The winner of Kate Sherwood’s giveway is Margec01–Kate will be contacting you shortly, Marge! Meanwhile, back to trying to solve the cross-linking problem….

Pop A CorkWow! What a great way to start the morning! I woke to a tweet from @Kirstyv1 (Kirsty Vixard from All in One Place) letting me know that she’d posted her review of The Boys of Summer! Can I say I was blown away? Despite the fact that it is sleeting here this morning, I am toasty warm, basking in the glow of such a nice review. πŸ™‚

It’s Day Six of The Boys of Summer Book Tour and there is still so much more to come! sugar cookies wikipedia commonIf you’re here for theΒ Queer Town Abbey Christmas Blog Hop (and the cookie recipe I can no longer eat) then you want to go to this link here. It will tell you all about the hop and the great prizes up for grabs! Due to technical difficulties, the hop is being extended one more day–your chance to get in on some great prizes!

Snow_Dog_resizedTo me, Christmas is all about those Christmas miracles. Remember that scene at the end of It’s a Wonderful Life, where the townspeople helped by George Bailey show up at his door and shower him with the money out of their pockets? No one person can afford to give much, but because there are so many people involved, the total is more than enough to meet his needs. That scene gets me every time. My heart fills with emotion as they crowd into the entranceway of his old house, filling the room with their love and spontaneous giving. Well, the M/M romance community is doing just that with some of our own. Authors Eric Arvin and T.J. Klune, engaged to be married in real life, are facing what Becky Condit calls a ‘medical tsunami’. Eric is currently hospitalized and facing brain surgery. His recovery will be long and costly. The M/M community, like that of Bedford Falls, is rallying around to help raise money for the couple’s ongoing expenses. Even if you cannot afford to donate at this time, please consider spreading the word. Links to how you can help are on Mrs. Condit & Friends.

With that. I’m headed out to take the dog for a quick run before work! Y’all stay safe and warm now, okay? And give your loved ones a hug.

Awards Announcements, Christmas Hops, and Book Tours, oh my!

FinalistSMSo many things coming up starting this weekend! On Sunday, Dec 8th, Elisa Reviews will be announcing the winners of the 2013 Rainbow Awards! The Boys of Summer is a finalist in the awards, and its cover, created by the peerless Reese Dante, is up for a cover award as well! I am excited and nervous all at the same time… Excited because I think the cover stands a darn good chance of winning–Reese Dante is simply that good. Nervous because as much as I would like for The Boys of Summer to win in its category, I think it is unlikely that it will–I’ve seen the competition! Elisa reports that the voting has been very, very tight, however, with some major surprises. So maybe my little 100-1 longshot has a chance? We’ll see. This really is a case of my simply being honored to have made it to the finals. I have to keep reminding myself that as I keep my fingers crossed that it might actually win an award. The story is just so very special to me that I can’t help but hope that it wins in its division. πŸ™‚

qta_christmas_blog_hop-180x179Also on Dec 8th, I’ll be participating in Queer Town Abbey’s Christmas Blog Hop! Everyone will be sharing what Christmas means to them (as well as their favorite Christmas cookie recipe–mine will be sour cream cookies–YUM). Check out the list of all the fabulous participants and awesome prizes here. You have to see it to believe all the great giveaways that will be taking place! Be sure to come back on Dec 8th to read my post and get my recipe! I guarantee you, it will be worth it!

Small_Banner_Boys_of_SummerThen, starting on Dec 9th and running through Dec 22nd, I’ve got a book tour with Virtual Writers for The Boys of Summer! Oh man, have we been working at this! I’ve written over eight blog posts, and have been interviewed at least five times! I have my very own book trailer, we’re going to do a live Twitter Chat on Sunday Dec 15th at 1 pm EST, and we’re hosting a giveaway of our own as well–grand prize is a $50 Amazon gift card! That could come in handy right now at Christmas, couldn’t it? πŸ™‚ The official page for the book tour is here.

The most important part about all of that is that I NEED YOU to be there too! Come join the fun! I’m going to be posting as part of an international book tour, and though I know I can talk to a wall if necessary (I proved that in the first grade, much to the barely-controlled amusement of my teacher), I would much rather talk with YOU. Chatty Cathy, that’s me! Not to mention, comments left on posts will increase the number of entries you get in the Rafflecopter giveaway!

Do say you’ll stop by and leave a comment on the posts as they go live. I’m really looking forward to this! πŸ™‚

The Boys of Summer Book Tour December 9-22, 2013

The Boys of Summer400x600Guys! Guys! I am so excited! From Dec 9 through Dec 22nd, Virtual Writers will be hosting a book tour for The Boys of Summer! I’ll be doing interviews, blog posts on writing and other thinky-thoughts, a live Twitter chat and more! If you’re on Facebook, and would like to join the event there, you can do so here. The Book Tour dates and event schedule are available here–as well as the details for the giveaway for a $50 gift card from Amazon!

If you want to get a peek at my first ever book trailer, check out this link on youtube! I have to admit, I’ve been dying for a book trailer forever, even though I know they are mostly for the author’s enjoyment. πŸ™‚

I would deeply appreciate it if you guys could spread the word as much as possible, and if you have the time and inclination, stop in on the various blog posts and leave a comment when the tour starts. All comments will get you entered at a shot for the gift card, so you are doing something for yourself as well as me! While is *is* possible for me to hold a conversation with myself (did you doubt it? No, I thought not…), it is so much more fun to chat with people. I would love it if you could join in the fun. Feel free to invite your friends to join the event on Facebook, and if you don’t know my Twitter name, it’s @SarahMadisonFic.

During this same time, I expect to hear the announcements on the winners in the 2013 Rainbow Awards. TBOS is a finalist in the awards and the cover art, done by the incomparable Reese Dante, is also up for an award. I truly have no expectations of winning an award–it is truly an honor to be one of the finalists–but Elisa Reviews is also celebrating with a Pre-Awards Party in which ALL the authors whose stories made the finals will be hosting giveaways. So go check that out, too, while you’re at it!

If you’re not into Twitter or Facebook, I will be leaving reminders on the tour here when it gets closer to the time. Come join the fun! Better yet, tell all your friends, too!

The Boys of Summer Cover Art is up for a Rainbow Award!

The Boys of Summer400x600You all probably know by now how much I love my cover for The Boys of Summer. Artist Reese Dante did an amazing job, practically reading my mind when it came to choosing the elements I wanted to evoke the misty reflection on the past that is central to the story.

I’ve been delighted to watch this cover’s progress through the voting in this year’s Rainbow Cover Art Awards and now The Boys of Summer has reached the forth and final round of competition! Now, I know it has nothing to do with me, but I can’t help but be excited on behalf of my cover!

You must vote for three covers in each of the two divisions (Illustrated and Designed Covers) and leave a comment (which are screened). In parallel voting, a panel of judges will also supply their input to come up with the final winners.

How exciting is that? Now run, check out the pretty and VOTE for your favorite cover art!

While you are there, you should check out the month long celebrations that are going on as a run up to the 2013 Rainbow Awards announcements in December. The Boys of Summer is a finalist in these awards, and I have to say, it is truly an honor to be listed among such great books this year. As part of the pre-Awards party, there are book giveaways from every finalist in the Awards, as well as scavenger hunts and ‘guess the excerpt’ contests. Go check it out and have some fun while we’re all excitedly waiting for the final winner’s list!

The Boys of Summer is a Featured Book on TRR, Celebrations, and More!

Well, I have a lot to share with you today!

The Boys of Summer400x600The Boys of Summer is being featured over at The Romance Reviews for the month of November. Best-selling author Susan Mac Nicol (Stripped Bare, Saving Alexander) asked me some very discerning (and tough!) questions. There is also TRR’s book review, and I’ll be giving away e-copies of my work, too. TRR listed The Boys of Summer as one of their Top Picks! So drop by, check out the interview/review and leave a comment! I’ll be checking in daily to answer any comments or questions.Β trrtoppicks

The other exciting bit of news is that Elisa is celebrating the 7th anniversary of reviews_and_ramblings, as well as the 5th anniversary of the Rainbow Awards. As such, she is hosting a Pre-Awards Party all this month of November, with each of the 165 finalists for this year’s awards (that includes me!) contributing a copy of their award submission stories. There will be new posts every day and new ways to enter to win. She’s hosting a scavenger hunt as well as Name That Excerpt, so if you are a big fan of M/M romance and GLBTQ fiction, then go check it out!

The winners of the 2013 Rainbow Awards will be announced in December!

The week in review–as George Takei would say, “Oh myyyyy!”

So much to share this week!

FinalistSMThe most exciting news is that The Boys of Summer is a finalist in the 2013 Rainbow Awards! You could have knocked me over with a feather when I got the official word. I don’t anticipate it going any further than this; I am up against some stiff competition (no pun intended!) and I am aware of the flaws in the story. But this is one of those situations in which it is truly an honor to be on the list with such prominent titles within the genre!

Also, I am very pleased with this interview with independent filmmaker Rolla Selbak on Queer Town Abbey. This is the second interview I’ve written for QTA–they’d asked me to be a staff member but I had to regretfully decline due to my other commitments Still, I thought this one went very well, so go check it out! Rolla Selbak is a fascinating person doing interesting work, and her projects are enlightening as well as entertaining!

jackolanternLast, but not least, October is Paranormal Month! At least, by most people’s reckoning! Author Merissa McCain is hosting fellow paranormal authors every day this month to talk about their paranormal romances, as well as the genre in general. There are new posts every day on her website–I’ve posted the first three links on mine. There will be more to follow: my post won’t appear until the end of the month, but I’m going to be talking about what’s in store for the boys from Crying for the Moon. πŸ™‚

Right now, I’m climbing back into the saddle after a much-needed mini-vacation, but I have to tell you, the harness chafes more when you’ve had it off for a few days. I’m looking at the things I’ve promised to do and starting to hyperventilate a bit. Next up, I’ve got to read and review the latest story from best-selling author Kindle Alexander, Double Full, as part of her blog tour (release date Oct 8th). There will be exciting prizes as the tour progresses, so be sure to stay tuned! I have my own blog tour scheduled in December–complete with a book trailer (I’m so excited about this!) and my own fantabulous giveaways–so keep an eye out here for more updates as they arrive.

The newest post in the Paranormal Month hosting is from Lara Nance. Come check it out!

The Boys of Summer is a finalist in the 2013 Rainbow Awards!

FinalistSMI’m determined to go to bed early tonight. I was on the road for six hours today (which should have been four, but construction and a lane closure slowed everything to a crawl). I’m not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow–the harness chafes worse after you’ve been out of it for a while.

But I couldn’t go to bed without sharing my news–the finalists for the 2013 Rainbow Awards were announced today, and The Boys of Summer made the list! I am surprised and delighted, to say the least. πŸ™‚ I thought yesterday’s Honorable Mention was great–I seriously did not expect the story to advance forward from there. This is one of those situations in which it truly is an honor to be listed among such fantastic titles. On that happy note, I am going to drag myself into bed and try to get a decent night’s sleep before diving headfirst back into the day job. πŸ™‚

The Boys of Summer400x600

Laughter, the company of friends, and the clicking of keys on a keyboard…

I’ve been having a wonderful weekend here with my friends. We’ve made a ridiculous amount of food, we’ve sat around the fire pit outside and talked until late in the evening. We’ve emptied bottles of wine and indulged in chocolate from all over the country. We’ve laughed and made terrible jokes. We’ve watched our favorite television shows on Netflix, and closed down the outdoor patio with our risque conversations and shared with each other about our lives and our hobbies.

This mini-vacation is half over and I don’t want it to end. Right now, we’re all sitting on our laptops and phones, catching up on the outside world and sending our updates. Just now Margarita Gakis looked up and said, “Ah, the sound of my people.” She was referring to the clickedy-clack of fingers flying over keyboards. We all laughed, but she was right. We’ve traveled here from all over the world to gather here because of the love of a television show, but we’re also writers, and artists, and creators at heart. The show is simply the nidus for our creativity.

HonorableMentionSMIn other news, I found out this morning that The Boys of Summer received an Honorable Mention in the 2013 Rainbow Awards. I am grinning like an idiot here. I’m pretty sure that this is as far as the story will go in the voting, but it is exciting to see the quality of my company. No, seriously, I know people say things like “It’s such an honor” in situations like this, but go, look at the lists! These are amazing stories and it is truly delightful to see The Boys of Summer here. Look at the lovely artwork by Paul Richmond on these banners here too!
